Iran will appoint Homeira Rigi, a Baloch Sunni woman, as its Ambassador to Brunei. Homeira Rigi is currently the governor of Ghasr-e Ghand County in the province of Sistan and Balochistan, according to Islamic Republic News Agency ((IRNA) Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has stressed defining greater role of women in the ministry.

Sunnis are one of Iran's minority groups and Iranian Ambassador to Hanoi Saleh Adibi also belongs to the Iranian Sunni community, IRNA said. Earlier, Hamideh Zarabadi, the spokesperson for Women Fraction in the Iranian parliament had quoted Zarif that two more female ambassadors would be introduced in the near future.
